Nintendo has officially cast Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie. Shigeru Miyamoto announced the news on July 16, 2025, via Nintendo’s official X account.

Meanwhile, Wes Ball, known for directing The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, will lead the project as director. The movie is currently set to premiere on May 7, 2027. Additionally, Nintendo is co-producing the film with Avi Arad, while Sony Pictures will manage distribution.

As for the cast, Bragason, 21, is an English actress recognized for her work in BBC’s Three Girls, The Jetty, and Disney+’s Renegade Nell. In contrast, Ainsworth, 16, made his mark in The Haunting of Bly Manor, Netflix’s The Sandman, and also voiced the title character in Disney’s 2022 Pinocchio.
