Le Dîner en Blanc 2025 Returns to NYC with Chef Daniel Boulud at the Helm
Le Dîner en Blanc is coming back to New York City on September 19, 2025, promising another night of elegance, community, and culinary celebration. Known as the “World’s Largest Dinner Party,” this all-white pop-up affair is one of the most anticipated social events of the year. For 2025, the experience takes a luxurious turn as acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud joins the festivities with curated gourmet picnic baskets.
With more than 4,000 guests expected, the event will transform a secret NYC location into an open-air dinner party that blends French tradition with New York style.
What Is Le Dîner en Blanc?
Le Dîner en Blanc began in Paris over three decades ago and has since grown into a global movement, now held in over 140 cities across 40 countries. Since arriving in New York in 2011, the event has turned locations like Union Square, Lincoln Center, and Brookfield Place into temporary dining venues under the stars.
The concept is simple but strict: all guests dress in white and bring their own white tables, chairs, and tableware. The exact location remains a mystery until the last moment, when attendees are guided by volunteers to the site.
Chef Daniel Boulud Joins the 2025 Edition
For the first time, Chef Daniel Boulud will offer curated picnic baskets for guests to pre-order. The Épicerie Boulud Basket: Capucine ($130) includes:
- Green gazpacho
- Paté en croûte
- Lavash, hummus, and baba ganoush
- Roasted chicken salad
- Raspberry shortcake with vanilla crème and poppy seeds
- Orange blossom madeleines
Vegetarian guests can choose the Tournesol Basket ($115), which features the same selections but swaps the chicken for Vaduvan cauliflower.
Wine and champagne may also be reserved in advance. Outside alcohol is not allowed.
What to Expect at the Event
Guests should plan for a truly DIY experience. While picnic baskets and beverages can be ordered, participants are expected to bring:
- A white table, two white chairs, and a white tablecloth
- A full tablescape and decor fitting the “Floral Elegance” theme
- Their own meals, unless they choose the catered basket option
- A white outfit, formal or creative
For those who prefer convenience, furniture rentals are available for $86 (two chairs and a table).
The evening will feature live music, dancing, and visual surprises. The signature napkin wave kicks off dinner, while sparklers mark the beginning of the dance portion.
As always, the event ends with guests packing up and leaving no trace.
