Bobby Sherman, the 1960s teen idol who later served his community as a medic and reserve officer, died on June 24 at his home in Encino, Los Angeles. He was 81. His wife, Brigitte Poublon, confirmed that he passed peacefully after battling stage 4 kidney cancer, which he publicly revealed earlier this year.

Sherman became famous as a regular on ABC’s Shindig! and gained wider attention as Jeremy Bolt on the TV series Here Come the Brides, which aired from 1968 to 1970. He continued to stay in the public eye through roles on Getting Together, The Love Boat, and Frasier.

During his music career, he released several hits that climbed the Billboard Hot 100:

  • “Little Woman” (sold over one million copies)
  • “Julie, Do Ya Love Me”
  • “Easy Come, Easy Go”
  • “La La La (If I Had You)”

In the 1980s, Sherman chose to leave the entertainment industry and focus on public service. He became a licensed EMT and later joined the Los Angeles Police Department as a medical trainer, donating his salary. He also served as a reserve officer with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and earned the title of LAPD Reserve Officer of the Year in 1999.

In 2011, Sherman and his wife founded the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation. The group supports education and music programs in Ada, Ghana, providing school meals, uniforms, and supplies to children in need.

Reflecting on her husband’s passing, Brigitte said he “left this world holding my hand… with love, courage, and unwavering grace.” She described him as a man who gave deeply, both in the spotlight and behind the scenes.

Sherman leaves behind his wife, two sons—Christopher and Tyler—and six grandchildren. His legacy spans music charts and public service, making a lasting mark through both his performances and quiet acts of care.
