The 2025 Tony Awards brought Broadway’s brightest talents to Radio City Music Hall on June 8, with Cynthia Erivo as host. The evening featured standout wins, history-making performances, and a nostalgic reunion.

“Maybe Happy Ending” stood out as the night’s most honored production, earning six awards. Darren Criss won Best Actor in a Musical for his role in the show, which also picked up awards for Best Musical, Direction (Michael Arden), Book, Original Score, and Scenic Design.

In his acceptance speech, Criss said, “The real hero about this for this remarkable journey is my wife, Mia, who took a massive swing on allowing me to do this… You’re the very pedestal that upholds the shiny spinny bit in our lives.”

Kara Young won Best Featured Actress in a Play for “Purpose,” becoming the first Black performer to win that category in two consecutive years. “Purpose,” written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, received Best Play.

Nicole Scherzinger won Best Actress in a Musical for “Sunset Boulevard,” which also claimed Best Revival of a Musical.

“If there’s anyone who feels like they don’t belong or your time hasn’t come, don’t give up. Just keep on giving and giving, because the world needs your love and your light more than ever. This is a testament that love always wins,” Scherzinger said in her speech.

Sarah Snook earned Best Actress in a Play for her solo performance in “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” Cole Escola, recognized for their role in “Oh, Mary!,” became the first openly non-binary performer to receive Best Actor in a Play.
