A New York jury spared Sean “Diddy” Combs from a life sentence by acquitting him of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. However, they convicted him on two federal charges of transporting women for prostitution under the Mann Act—and shortly after, a judge denied him bail.

Jurors dismissed the most severe allegations tied to former partner Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another woman known as “Jane.” Instead, he was found guilty of moving them across state lines for prostitution.

Each conviction carries up to 10 years. Prosecutors plan to seek 51–63 months in prison, while the defense will push for 21–27 months. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.

After three days of deliberations, the verdict came on July 2. Combs knelt and prayed in court, and supporters chanted “Dream team.”

His lawyers asked for a $1 million bond with travel restrictions and passport surrender, but Judge Subramanian ruled he must stay jailed, citing concerns about community safety and flight risk. “This highlights a disregard for the rule of law and a propensity of violence,” the judge said.

  • Acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering
  • Convicted of two Mann Act counts
  • Faces up to 20 years total, guidelines suggest 4–5 years
  • Bail denied—will remain in custody until sentencing

Although Combs avoided life imprisonment, he remains behind bars pending sentencing. The outcome will depend on upcoming legal proceedings.
