I have one comment about seeing the tree. Agree with your comments about waiting until after tree lighting night, I would add go early , I mean go really early, get up and go see it @ 5:30am. It’s still dark, the tree is lit, there is less foot and vehicle traffic. After you see the tree you can stroll down 5th see all the store windows very easily, see Macy’s @ Herald Square and then you have 2 choices, go home and go back to bed OR take you & your companions out for a really nice breakfast at your favorite diner!
