Car Drives Into Crowd at Liverpool FC Parade, 47 Hurt

A car struck a crowd during Liverpool FC’s Premier League title parade on May 26. The crash took place on Water Street, just after the team’s celebration had moved past the area. The car drove into fans gathered along the street, injuring 47 people, including four children.

Police arrested the driver, a 53-year-old man from Liverpool, at the scene. Moreover, authorities confirmed there is no indication of a terrorist motive. Meanwhile, emergency services responded quickly, and firefighters had to rescue four people trapped under the vehicle.

Among those injured, 27 were taken to the hospital. Notably, two of them, including one child, are in serious condition. As a result, Liverpool FC paused all post-parade events. In a statement, the club said they are “deeply saddened by the incident and working closely with the police.”
