Cassie Ventura, former partner of Sean “Diddy” Combs, testified in a Manhattan courtroom as part of the federal case against the music producer. During her testimony, she told jurors that Combs controlled her life for over a decade through fear and repeated abuse.

Speaking directly to the court, Ventura said Combs forced her into sexual situations with other people while he watched and directed. She added that he often recorded these encounters and used the threat of releasing the videos to keep her from leaving.

“He used power, fear, and control to keep me there,” Ventura said. “I didn’t think I had a way out.”

Ventura met Combs when she was 19 and he was 37. From the start, she said, he took control of her personal and professional life. As the relationship progressed, she explained, he restricted who she could talk to, introduced her to drugs, and physically assaulted her. Eventually, the violence worsened. Ventura recalled that Combs dragged her by the hair, punched her, and stomped on her during arguments.

Video Evidence

One key piece of the prosecution’s evidence includes surveillance footage from a hotel in 2016. In the video, which the court reviewed, Combs appears to chase and assault Ventura in a hallway. Additionally, a hotel staff member testified that Combs offered him money to suppress the footage.

Meanwhile, authorities are holding Combs at a federal detention center in Brooklyn. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for illegal sexual activity. His defense team claims the relationships were consensual and argues that others have distorted the events.

As the trial moves forward, the jury must set aside Combs’ public status and instead focus entirely on the testimony and evidence. Ventura’s statement is expected to remain central to the case, which will likely continue for several more weeks as more witnesses testify.
