Taylor Swift has taken full control of her music catalog, bringing an end to years of disputes over ownership.

The singer confirmed on her website that she now owns the rights to all her tracks, including her earlier work recorded before 2019. Swift began this journey when Scooter Braun’s purchase of Big Machine Records handed over the masters of her first six albums without her consent.

To take back control, she started re-recording her albums. The re-released versions—titled “Taylor’s Version”—include “Fearless,” “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “1989.” Each one reached the top of the Billboard charts.

Swift has now bought back her original masters from Shamrock Capital. She posted, “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.” Her statement also shared that the agreement with Shamrock was “honest, fair, and respectful.”

Along with the tracks, Swift now owns all associated content, including videos, photos, and unreleased tracks. She noted that while her self-titled debut re-recording is done, “less than a quarter of Reputation has been recorded,” and its release will come “when the time is right.”

Key details:

  • Swift now owns all her music, videos, and album art
  • Re-recorded four albums to date
  • Acquired originals through a deal with Shamrock Capital
  • Plans to release “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” later

Swift’s announcement reinforces the push for artists to have ownership of their creations. Her actions could inspire more musicians to follow her lead.
