Ride LIRR or Metro‑North for Just $1 Every Saturday This Summer
This summer, the MTA is making weekend travel more affordable. If you hold a monthly pass on the LIRR or Metro‑North, you can now bring two companions for only $1 each every Saturday through August 30, 2025.
With this deal, you’re not limited to your usual station. You can travel to any destination on the same rail line. Each $1 ticket is valid for a one‑way trip and easy to buy. You can use the TrainTime app, visit a ticket machine, stop at a station booth, or ask the conductor onboard.
However, a few limits apply. You can’t use a Metro‑North pass on the LIRR or the other way around. Also, some trains are excluded. For example, a few morning departures to Montauk and Greenport on the LIRR are not included. The Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines on Metro‑North are also off the list.
- Promotion runs every Saturday from July 5 to August 30, 2025

Governor Hochul explained the goal clearly: “We want New Yorkers to have more money in their pockets… taking the train is the best way to get around.”
