Janet Jackson returns to spotlight at 2025 AMAs with Icon Award

Janet Jackson made her first live TV performance in seven years at the 2025 American Music Awards on May 26. She also received the Icon Award during the event, marking a major moment in the show.
Wearing a white bomber jacket and denim jeans, Jackson performed her songs “Someone to Call My Lover” and “All for You.” The set featured a dance routine and guitar solo. Actress Tasha Smith introduced her before the award.
In her acceptance speech, Jackson shared, “I am so, so honored. I am so grateful. I mean no disrespect in any way, but I don’t consider myself an icon.” She added, “My family, myself—our dream wasn’t ever to be famous. We weren’t raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing, and singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication.”
