A New York jury has once again convicted Harvey Weinstein. They found him guilty of a 2006 sexual assault against Miriam Haley, a former production assistant. This verdict came after his earlier conviction was overturned last year.

The jury, made up of twelve members, decided to convict Weinstein on one count: first-degree criminal sexual act. This charge came from an incident where Weinstein forced Haley to perform oral sex. Meanwhile, they found him not guilty of another charge linked to Kaja Sokola.

In addition, one charge from 2013 involving Jessica Mann remains undecided. The jury continues to deliberate on that count.

Throughout the trial, tensions ran high. Reports described a jury room filled with conflict, including threats and arguments. At one point, a juror told the judge she felt unsafe. Although Weinstein’s lawyers asked for a mistrial, the judge refused.

This retrial happened because a court threw out Weinstein’s 2020 conviction in April 2024. That earlier case ended due to procedural mistakes. At the same time, Weinstein is already serving a 16-year sentence in California following a separate conviction in 2022. He chose not to testify during this latest trial.

  • Guilty: 2006 assault involving Miriam Haley
  • Not guilty: charge involving Kaja Sokola
  • Undecided: 2013 rape allegation from Jessica Mann
  • Overturned: 2020 New York conviction in April 2024
  • Incarcerated: 16-year sentence for California convictio
  • Jury conflict: threats and disputes reported

“This is a partial victory for survivors,” said Haley. “But today’s verdict gives me hope.”

As the trial continues, jurors must still reach a decision on the final charge. For now, the current conviction signals that Weinstein remains accountable in the eyes of the court.
