Erie County Fair 2025 Guide: Tickets, Rides, Food, Concerts & Safety Tips
The Erie County Fair returns to Western New York from August 6 to 17, 2025, promising 12 days of excitement, food, and family-friendly fun. Held at the Hamburg Fairgrounds, this summer tradition brings together thousands of fairgoers for music, rides, fireworks, and plenty of local flavor.
Fair Schedule and Admission Details
The fairgrounds will open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets for visitors aged 13 and above are priced at ₱22.60, available for purchase online or at the gate. Only debit and credit cards are accepted. Children aged 12 and under get in free, but must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.
Rides, Attractions, and Entertainment
From stunt circuses to glassblowing, and even pig races, each day features a packed schedule of activities. Nightly fireworks light up the sky, adding to the celebration.
Music lovers can catch performances at the Grandstand, including a show by iconic ‘80s rock band Foreigner, part of the Channel 4 Concert Series. The lineup also features tribute bands and a demolition derby.
Food and Fair Favorites
The Erie County Fair always delivers when it comes to eats. Expect local favorites like Nick Charlaps Ice Cream and Dirty Bird Chicken N’ Waffles, along with boba tea, tacos, and other treats.
Safety First: Rigorous Ride Inspections
Fair organizers have worked for months to ensure both fun and safety. The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) oversees a three-step Ride Safe NY inspection process:
- Inspecting each ride’s parts and verifying maintenance records.
- Checking the assembly and securing of all components.
- Watching the operator run the ride and ensuring safe operation.
In addition to daily state inspections, the fair also hires an independent inspector. According to CEO Jessica Underberg, this third-party expert will shut down any ride that does not meet safety standards—even for something as small as a loose seatbelt snap.
To verify ride safety, look for the DOL inspection tag before boarding. You can also check the NYSDOL Ride Safety Database online.
Parking and Special Discounts
Parking is free at fairground lots. Special admission deals are available throughout the event:
- Veterans and firefighters receive free admission on designated days.
- On August 6, anyone bringing four or more canned goods for FeedMore WNY also gets in free.
Planning Behind the Scenes
Organizers began preparing for this year’s fair even before the 2024 edition wrapped up. From drone mapping the layout to placing benches and flower beds, every detail has been considered to create a welcoming and safe experience.
Jessica Underberg, CEO of the Erie County Agricultural Society, describes the fair as “a place for grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, and the kids.” It remains one of the region’s most beloved summer events.
